OBJECTIVE

Backup power with soundproofing and sustainability report

The customer wanted a backup power solution capable of delivering 28,000 kVA for its Data Center in Madrid. This Data Center is located in the heart of a commercial area, so soundproofing was essential to reduce noise levels in order to not disturb neighboring companies. In line with Data4’s plan to cut the carbon footprint of new Data Centers by 38% by 2030, Rehlko also issued an environmental declaration for generators in the form of a PEP ecopassport®.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

A complete solution

Soundproofing required constructing a building rather than simply housing the generators in containers. All the plans, studies, the construction of the building, the insulation, the installation of the generators and the commissioning were carried out by our teams in partnership with the commissioning company Cap Ingelec. This is the second package of backup generators Rehlko has supplied and installed at Data4’s Madrid site. The first consisted of six HVO-compatible T2800C generator sets delivering total power of 16,800 kVA with a similar solution in building.

REHLKO SOLUTION

Quality, reliability and efficiency

Given the customer’s need for a low-noise solution, our G-Drive engine was the perfect choice as it runs smoothly, quietly, and with low vibration even under extreme operating conditions. It is also a sustainable solution using as it can run on HVO fuel which is up to 90% carbon neutral and sourced entirely from waste products.

As for reliability, all Rehlko generators meet tough industry testing and quality standards so they will last for decades to come. Thanks to their superior design, G-Drive engines also deliver the highest power density on the market, reaching up to 41.7 kW/liter. At the same time, they have a relatively small footprint while delivering the best fuel consumption at more nodes than any competitor above 700 kW.

KD Series generators are easy to maintain. They feature integrated controls for seamless communication and offer remote monitoring through a VPN connection. Using standard components means fewer parts must be stocked in the field, and operators require less training. This reduces costs and improves response time.

Certified carbon reduction

To support Data4’s plan to cut the carbon footprint of its new Data Centers by 38% by 2030, Rehlko also provided an environmental lifecycle impact report for the generators. The PEP ecopassport® provides Data4 with comprehensive information about the lifecycle impact of generators with granular data on the impact of activities such as raw material extraction, manufacture, distribution, installation, use, and end-of-life.

As stated by Rehlko Power Systems President, Charles Hunsucker, “We are dedicated to partnering with our customers, supporting their journey towards net-zero emissions.”
